Design & Technologies — We believe kids are the design thinkers of the future. In the show, children are exposed to real sustainable designs created by children across the world. Children use their design thinking to imagine ideas for house design and create their own designs with their bodies.

The Arts – Dance/Drama — As trained dancers, movement and physical theatre are central to this show. Blending genres, children experience a contemporary performance unlike their typical picture of dance and drama, including the fun and comedy of audience interactivity.

Critical & Creative Thinking — The show celebrates curiosity and the unexpected. Children are encouraged to think beyond the obvious, make unusual connections, respond to playful problems and discover that there can be more than one answer.

Sustainability — The show introduces children to the idea that the way we live has an impact on the world around us. Through humour and playful examples, the house sparks conversations about resources, waste and how we might live more sustainably.

Personal & Social Capability — The show is designed as a shared experience. Children and teachers have opportunity to participate, respond and laugh together, and experience the the joy of human connection and play in our age of screens.

As seen in the show, children get to learn how to create furniture with their own bodies using the foundational skills of partner acrobatics. The workshops run for 30 minutes prior or post the show and can host consecutive groups. It needs an open and safe space and follows school interactive and physical policies.

Is a pedal powered toilet a childish idea?

Viviane Builds a Lufthaus is an interactive physical theatre show which encourages and inspires kids in the domain of design-thinking and future problem solving. In this show the children are taken on a tour of a constantly shape shifting house. With pedal powered toilets, bioluminescent windows and an out-of-control massage bed. The house is a wonder of fun as the children encounter both farcical designs and also honest environmentally conscious designs invented by real kids from around the globe.

When the protagonist and home-owner, Viviane was 8 years old she designed an incredible house. As a young girl growing up in Switzerland, people called her design a ‘Lufthaus’, or an ‘air-house’. Those who build houses in the air have big imaginations and to some people their designs can seem like a pipe dream.

Viviane Builds a Lufthaus is a humorous and exhilarating show for young children and incorporates a twister-style design safe beginner acrobatics workshop, in which children design and build a house using their bodies, and the collaborative bodies of their friends and families. We hope we will inspire movers, makers, and thinkers while building community and sparking joy.

Who is Gogi Dance Collective?
We are teachers, dance artists and parents who have created commissioned interactive performances for children and families for over a decade.

What can we book?
Choose a Performance + Workshop, Performance only. We can work with a single class, year levels or larger school groups. Stay a whole day or just an afternoon.

What space do we need?
We’re flexible. the show can be performed in theatres, halls, gyms, assembly spaces and suitable outdoor areas. Tell us what you have and we’ll work with you.

How many students can participate?
Performances can accommodate larger groups depending on your space. Workshops work best with smaller groups. We’ll help you plan the best combination.

What equipment do we need?
Very little. We’ll discuss sound, power and the performance space with you before the day and let you know exactly what we need.

Yes. Tell us about any learning, sensory, physical, accessibility or engagement needs beforehand so we can plan with your students in mind.

What do teachers need to do?
Teachers stay with their students and support normal supervision and behaviour expectations. We take care of the performance, workshop and creative fun.

Yes. Tell us what you’re hoping your students will get from the experience and we’ll shape the day with you.

Do you need a site visit?
Usually not. Photos, measurements or a quick video call are often enough. If needed, we can arrange a site visit.
